Lessons

About the lessons

Each lesson is an individual, private bespoke session to allow a pupil to progress at an independent pace. Lesson times can be agreed to ensure that school/working day timetables are not interrupted. All levels of ability are catered for.

Sheelagh is affiliated to The Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music and the Incorporated Society of Musicians, and examinations are held in all subjects by a visiting examiner. Exams taken at higher grades (Grades 6-8) are eligible for University (UCAS) entry points.

Career Prospects

Pupils take music tuition for a wide variety of reasons, including developing self-confidence, obtaining qualifications to enter university or simply as a hobby. For those who wish to pursue a future career in music, either as a performer or a tutor, Sheelagh has a proven track record in helping pupils achieve these goals.

I spent the whole of my life too nervous to sing having been thrown out of the school choir at the age of eight and told that I had no voice. At the age of seventy six I decided to seek help and was recommended to have singing lessons with Sheelagh. With her expert advice and encouragement I am now singing with growing confidence and look forward to my weekly lessons with her. I have joined two choirs and I feel so happy with the progress I have made. I recommend Sheelagh to all who wish to sing as she is a first class teacher with a pleasant personality and an easy approach for anxious students. Her lessons are relaxed and fun but also I have learned so much and I am so grateful.
